This authentic Civil War leather percussion cap box, would have been carried by the soldier to carry the brass percussion caps for his musket, pistol or carbine. The original belt loops are both still present on of the back of the box. The outer flap is nice and bears the inspector stamp "J.C. Miller". The outer flap is in good condition and has the closure tab and brass finial at the bottom. The inner flap is present with both of the "ears" on the sides. The stamping on the inner flap is what makes this box stand out. It is stamped by the maker " STORMS N.Y.” The stamping is very clear and easily read. The leather is in good condition.
