This is a nicely marked original Civil War naval artillery fuse box. This is the leather pouch that went on the side of the Civil War naval artilleryman. It held his paper time fuses for firing the cannon shells. The inner flap has an arsenal mark of "U.S. NY BOSTON”. The original closure tab is present, but torn and the bottom of the box has the brass finial. On the back of the box is the original leather belt loop solidly intact. This will make a fine addition for a naval or artillery collector.
