Outstanding original wartime binoculars with telescopic eyepieces.  This rare st functions similar to the classic examples with the addition of the eyepieces will extend after a ¼ turn and slide out to create enhanced magnification.  This is only the second set of such (telescopic binoculars” we have encountered.  These were produced by the world-famous firm of Lemaire which began operation in 1846. They produced a variety of optical apparatus including binoculars. The French term for binoculars being 'jumelles' or twin girls.  

This pair is accompanied by its original leather case with salmon colored velvet lining.  The binoculars retain their original leather coving with detailed embossing and most of the original jappaned finish.  The optics are clear and the image is unobscured.  It would be hard to find a better wartime example with the original case.
