CSA Two Dollar Note-This specific example of currency was authorized by the Confederate government on December 2nd, 1862. Inscriptions: "Two Years after the Ratification of a Treaty of Peace between the Confederate States and the United States of America / The CONFEDERATE STATES of AMERICA / Will pay to the bearer on demand / TWO DOLLARS.". Note depicts Judah P. Benjamin, Confederate Attorney General and Secretary of War. The bill is black with reddish overprint and the back is plain. The date is printed, serial number is hand inscribed, signature is hand signed as well. Printing: "Lithog'd by Evans & Cogswell" and "Engraved by Keatinge & Ball, Columbia, S. C.".
