Personal Handwritten Journal Account of Civil War Fundraiser, Dated February 6, 1863 - The book measures 8 1/4" x 6 1/4" and appears to be leather with a pressed design. The front has a large urn on a stand with flowing flowers and several birds. On the "Golden Urn," is a marching army; what appears to be rams heads on the sides, and below is a man and two lion heads. It's gorgeous! The rest of the cover, front and back, have scroll type pressed designs. The back has the same urn, but it is not gilded.
The inside lining is turquoise paper, the first two pages are blank. The third page, is in pencil and dated, "Feb. 6, 1863",and is an account of a festival being held at Johnsons Creek, for the benefit of the "sick and wounded soldiers"..."noble work"..."lies"..."cowards", and more. The remainder of the album is blank.
Tucked inside, are two letters of several pages each, with various situations and persons mentioned.
