This is a very nice looking leather Carbine Cartridge Box. The flap has the maker's mark of the firm of "J. Cummings Springfield, Mass." The brass finial is present on the bottom of the box. It has the original wooden block that was designed to hold the cartridges in place. Written on wood block is "Amos Burrell, Section C Lourien, Iowa at Mt. Vernon, Iowa Cornell College Iowa." On the back of the box it has both of the original leather belt loops intact. This is a fine display of Civil War Carbine Cartridge Box.
