Wonderful Matching Pair of Civil War Calvary Spurs - Inventory Number: CAV 084

Wonderful set of unexcavated, intact brass cavalry spurs commonly used during the Civil War. The spurs are the large size (3½” across the boot opening) Federal regulation and are void of any visible markings. Each spur shank exhibits strap loop cutouts with squared inside corners, along with a freewheeling, sharp 14-tooth iron rowel in excellent condition attached to each neck. Both brass spurs are of wartime manufacture with characteristics typical for those devices such as the horizontal center groove. The spurs present a clean design with flowing lines and both are strong, well made and not bent or distorted in any way. Surfaces of both artifacts wear a slight stipple finish inside and out and measure approximately 5¼” long. The necks feature a floral motif, identical in both. These original brass military spurs are a fantastic cavalry collectable and would make a fine addition to any Civil War cavalry display or collection.
