“CITY OF BROOKLYN” Rare Early James Cole Auction Broadside

 

James Cole Auctioneer peremptory sale of 400 valuable building lots in the 9th ward of the city of Brooklyn belonging to David S. Mills, Jr. James Cole will sell at Auction, on Wednesday, July 25, 1849, at 12m. Frame measures 16” x 20 ½”. A wonderful early broadside of that would make an incredible display piece in Brooklyn where this plate would now be in the hundreds of millions of dollars! Madison is a neighborhood located in the southern part of Brooklyn, New York. Originally, the area was sparsely populated, with much of the land used for farming. However, as transportation routes improved in the late 1800s, the region experienced rapid growth. The neighborhood was named after President James Madison and quickly became known for its beautiful architecture, including elegant brownstones and large homes. Additionally, Madison was home to many prominent figures in New York society, including politicians, businessmen, and celebrities. Today, Madison retains much of its historic charm, with many beautiful buildings and tree-lined streets. Although the neighborhood has changed significantly, it remains an important part of Brooklyn’s rich history. The neighborhood of Madison in Brooklyn, New York is dotted with several notable landmarks. One of the most notable landmarks in this area is the Kings Theatre, which was designed in the French Baroque style and opened in the 1920s.
