Model 1840 Ames Artillery Saber – Inventory Number: SWO 126 – SOLD Dated 1861 – From Georgia Estate    Nice condition example with leather wrap and wire intact.  Obverse ricasso stamped “US / JH/ 1861, the reverse “Made by/ Ames Mfg Co/ Chicopee/ Mass”.  Original leather washer pad is intact.  Brass pommel has domed cap and bears the inspectors mark (LDM).   Pommel has initials “FH”.  Leather and wire wrap are both strong and tight.  The steel scabbard bears inspector marks, “J.R.” on the drag.  The bands and rings are tight.  This Model 1840 artillery saber would make a great addition to any collection.    Inventory Number: SWO 126 – SOLD
