Description

MusterIn Roll – Company F, 20th Connecticut Volunteers

An impressive wartime printed musterin broadside for Company F of the 20th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry, listing the officers and enlisted men who entered Federal service on September 8, 1862. Beautifully produced with an ornate engraved border, the broadside was issued under the command of Colonel Samuel Ross and served as a permanent record of the company’s original membership.

The 20th Connecticut would go on to earn distinction as part of the Army of the Potomac, seeing heavy service throughout the Eastern Theater. The regiment is best remembered for its role at the Battle of Gettysburg, where it fought on Culp’s Hill during the desperate fighting of July 2–3, 1863, helping defend the Union right flank against repeated Confederate assaults. Veterans of the regiment later regarded Gettysburg as the defining action of their service.

A scarce and highly displayable wartime regimental document that combines attractive Civil War graphics with the complete roster of a regiment that played a significant role in one of the war’s most important battles.
