United States Army Civil War Campaign Medal

An original United States Army Civil War Campaign Medal.

The bronze medal features a right-facing bust of President Abraham Lincoln surrounded by the words from his Second Inaugural Address, “With Malice Toward None, With Charity for All.” The reverse reads “The Civil War 1861–1865” within an oak-and-laurel wreath above crossed sabers. It is suspended from its distinctive blue-and-gray ribbon, symbolizing the Union and Confederate armies, and retains the pin-back suspension bar.
