A fascinating and historically significant display containing authentic architectural material removed during the landmark renovation of the White House under President Harry S. Truman between 1949 and 1952. This attractive presentation preserves three original relics from one of the most ambitious restoration projects ever undertaken at the Executive Mansion.  

Mounted on a polished stone base are an original fragment of White House marble, a section of sandstone, and an original hand-forged iron nail recovered during the renovation. Affixed to the front is the official bronze authenticity plaque featuring the Presidential Seal and the inscription:  

“Original White House Material Removed in 1950.”  

Following the extensive structural rehabilitation of the White House, the Commission on the Renovation of the Executive Mansion authorized a limited souvenir program in 1951, allowing members of the public to obtain authenticated pieces of the historic building. These relic displays have become increasingly desirable as tangible pieces of American presidential history.
