Description

Cartridge Box and Belt Recovered from the Battlefield of Winchester Mar. 23rd 62” – Inventory Number: LEA 374 Model 1855 Cartridge box is in supple condition.  The box had been nailed to a relic boar in the open position but closes as well.  The box retains both tin inserts as well as both roller buckles and belt loops.  The belt which accompanies this piece is quite interesting as it appears to be fashioned from a cartridge box sling of an earlier pattern.  The belt is mounted with an early war example of the U.S. Belt Plate with arrowhead hooks featuring a more elliptical “football” shape and pattern of tongue found on the earlier puppy paw version.  The lead back has the soldier’s initials FF.T. neatly incised in ¾” letters. The box and belt have a series of tiny holes from having been mounted to early relic displays as a true relic of the war! * To purchase this item directly by credit card, please click this link.   Inventory Number: LEA 374
