Description
Civil War Period Rhode Island Staff Button
Beautiful Civil War period Rhode Island state staff button displaying the classic fouled anchor and “HOPE” ribbon design surrounded by ornate scrolling and the arched “RHODE ISLAND” designation. The reverse retains a strong original shank and is backmarked “SCOVILL MFG. CO. WATERBURY,” one of the premier military button manufacturers of the mid-19th century.
This finely struck two-piece brass example retains outstanding detail with an appealing untouched golden patina. An especially attractive Rhode Island state button that would make an excellent addition to any advanced Civil War button collection, state display, or officer-related grouping.
