Confederate States “CS 1A” Eagle Button

 

Scarce Confederate “CS 1A” eagle button featuring the distinctive spread-wing eagle motif associated with early war Confederate manufacture. The reverse retains a strong original shank and is backmarked “EXTRA RICH * TREBLE GILT *,” indicating quality period production.

This handsome two-piece brass example displays sharp detail to the eagle with an attractive untouched patina and traces of original gilt remaining in the recessed areas. A desirable Confederate button long sought after by advanced collectors of Southern insignia and Civil War accoutrements.
