Desktop Mortar Cannon 

Desktop size mortar cannon featuring a heavy iron mortar tube finished in gold paint and mounted in its original dark-stained wooden caisson. The substantial mortar has the classic short, wide-bore form of an early military siege mortar, with the wooden carriage fitted with iron mounting hardware allowing the tube to pivot. 

Made as a display or desk piece, it is unusually substantial and well-constructed for a decorative miniature. The combination of the heavy iron tube, aged gold-painted surface, iron fittings, and nicely formed wooden caisson gives the piece considerable character. Honest age and scattered finish wear are present throughout, adding to its appearance. 

A handsome (possibly circa 1920-40) military-themed desktop piece with excellent visual appeal, particularly appropriate for an artillery or historic arms collection.
