Maynard .50 Caliber Carbine

Description

Maynard .50 Caliber Carbine

Maynard carbine in .50 caliber, serial number 18627, retaining original barrel blue and two clearly visible inspector’s cartouches. This example combines attractive aged surfaces with a solid stock and crisp rifling.

The round barrel with octagonal breech retains its original blued finish, with a small “S” stamped on the left breech flat. The receiver, frame, and trigger-guard lever exhibit gray surfaces with scattered darker patina, while the hammer, trigger, and buttplate have mellowed to a dark brown. The serial number is stamped on the lower frame strap behind the lever.

The left-side sling ring and small ball latch for the lever remain intact. The rear sight is present, although its elevation leaves are stuck in the lowered position. According to the accompanying condition notes, the breech opens smoothly, and the hammer holds securely at both half-cock and full-cock. The bore retains crisp, clearly visible, clean rifling.

The wooden buttstock remains intact and solid, displaying wear consistent with age and use. Two rectangular inspector’s cartouches are clearly visible on the left side of the wrist, adding to the carbine’s collector appeal.

A handsome Maynard carbine with retained original barrel finish, visible inspection marks, and pleasing overall preservation.
