Relics Collected from Castle Thunder Prison by Theodore Lambert, 32nd Wisconsin Infantry – Inventory Number: IDE 152 / SOLD Square nail and a 1” piece of brick accompanied by a note and typewritten tag that reads “nail and small piece of brick knocked off the wall by the musket of 1st Sgt. Theodore Lambert, Co. A, 32nd Wisconsin Inf. Castle Thunder was a small officer’s prison in Richmond during the war. Received from Col. Lambert (his grandson) of Nevada City, CA 12-15-86.” Castle Thunder was a former tobacco warehouse, located on Tobacco Row, converted into a prison used by the Confederacy to house civilian prisoners, including captured Union spies, political prisoners and those charged with treason during the American Civil War. Many its inmates were sentenced to death. Even though the inmates were sometimes allowed boxes of medicine and other supplies, the prison guards had a reputation for brutality. A nice addition to a Civil War POW collection.  Theodore Lambert – Residence Westfield WI; Enlisted on 8/21/1862 as a Corporal. On 8/21/1862 he mustered into “G” Co. WI 32nd Infantry.  He was Mustered Out on 6/12/1865 at Crystal Springs, MD. Promotions: Sergt. Comes housed in a display case with red velvet backing and descriptive card.   Inventory Number: IDE 152 / SOLD
