Description
Remington Beals .31 Caliber Five Shot Pocket Revolver
A solid example of the Remington Beals .31 caliber five-shot pocket revolver, retaining a smooth, even dark brown patina across the steel surfaces. The top of the barrel is clearly stamped with Beals patent dates of 1856, 1857, and 1858, and marked “Remingtons Ilion, N.Y.”
This revolver exhibits a hinge failure to the loading lever assembly, with the lever itself broken and portions of the hinge screw and rear plunger absent. Additionally, a portion of the loading lever mechanism is missing. The cylinder advancing disc plate on the left side of the frame is broken, preventing proper cylinder rotation when cocked.
Despite these mechanical issues, the hammer and trigger remain functional, and the grips are intact, well-fitted, and in solid condition. Overall, the piece presents well as a display example of an early Remington Beals pocket revolver.
