A scarce and desirable carte de visite depicting Union General James B. Steedman, shown in regulation officer’s uniform with clear shoulder insignia. The image is boldly signed along the lower mount, reading “Yours truly, J.B. Steedman Maj. Genl. U.S.V.,” offering strong period ink and excellent display appeal.

Steedman, a prominent officer associated with the 14th Ohio Infantry, saw extensive service in the Western Theater and played a notable role at the Battle of Chickamauga, where his leadership was instrumental in stabilizing Union lines during a critical moment of the engagement.
