Scarce South Carolina secessionist stickpin featuring the palmetto tree motif with “S C” to the center, surrounded by the patriotic slogan “Prepared in mind and resources.” The reverse retains its original pin measuring approximately 2 inches in length along with a period “Van Wart Son & Co.” backmark.

 

Constructed of brass with an untouched dark patina, this attractive political stickpin represents the intense Southern sentiment leading into the Civil War period. A desirable and seldom encountered Confederate-related political item that would display beautifully in any advanced Civil War, Southern political, or secession-era collection.
