U.S. Artillery Limber Lock with Key 

 

An original U.S. military artillery limber padlock constructed of iron and fitted with a brass keyhole escutcheon. These locks were used to secure the ammunition chest carried on an artillery limber. The lock retains its original brass-faced dust cover, clearly stamped “U.S.” 

 

The iron surfaces display an attractive, naturally aged dark patina, complemented by the mellow tone of the brass components. The key operates the lock properly, and the curved shackle opens and closes as intended. Both the lock and key exhibit expected wear consistent with military use and age. 

 

A handsome and functional example of United States artillery equipment.
