Cavalry Carbine Swivel - Gettysburg – Shields Museum used by Federal cavalrymen during the Civil War. When attached to one end of the cavalryman's leather carbine sling, the swivel’s spring loaded snap hook secured the man’s carbine at the sling bar and rendered his hands free to hold the reins. Constructed of polished steel, this unmarked artifact has two components: the snap hook and the steel sling loop. Measures approximately 8½” in total length. A very nice example of Civil War Cavalry equipment that would display well in any cavalry collection.
