Civil War-Era Cavalry Spur - Inventory Number: CAV 115
A well-preserved example of a mid-19th century U.S. military cavalry spur. Cast from solid brass with a rich, untouched patina, this regulation-style spur features dual slotted arms for leather strap attachment and a sharply defined iron rowel still intact and freely turning.
This style was widely issued to Union cavalrymen, though similar patterns were used by both sides during the war. The minimalist Federal design, without decorative embellishment, emphasizes function and military efficiency. 20 spoke rowel. Measures 5”in length.
Authentic Civil War cavalry spurs are increasingly scarce, especially in this solid, untouched condition. A great addition to any mounted soldier or U.S. horse equipment collection.
