Civil War Saddle Bags Used by Confederate General William M. Gardner - General Gardner served the army of the United States in the Mexican War where he was wounded and brevetted for gallantry. Gardner led his 7th Georgia troops to Bull Run where he was severely wounded by a cannonball shot to his leg. He later commanded troops in Florida at the Battle of Olustee. These saddle bags are made of leather, the leather strap holding them together has separated. It is in fine condition with all buckles still intact. This is an excellent leather exhibition piece which descended in the family of General Gardner and was recently purchased directly from his family and has never before been offered!
