Model 1860 Staff and Field Officers Sword - Ca 1870’s. The sword and scabbard are highly decorated throughout. The pommel is decorated with an eagle and Federal Shield. The front clamshell shows the American eagle with arrows and olive branch in its talons surmounted by the Federal Shield in front of a stand of colors. The outward side of the blade is etched with the name: “T.W. Hart” in a panel. The reverse side is the same, except the pane has what appear to read: R.I.M. Association. This example was recently acquired from a Rhode Island museum and is worthy or further research. The scabbard furniture have floral sprays, and the drag at the scabbard tip features a stand of colors on one side and a star on the reverse.
