Classic seated pose of a Union sergeant with chevrons mounted on his nine-button infantry frock coat.  Photographer has tinted chevrons and trousers blue.  U.S. buckle is visible.  Housed in a full leatherette case with brass mat.  Interior of case is lined with embossed red velvet.
