Ninth Maine Infantry Envelope

Wartime example with a pair of canceled US stamps of captain Benjamin F Whitten, who served with the fifth main and was later commission to serve with company B and F of the ninth Maine infantry. He was captured at the battle of Cold Harbor on June 1, 1864 and held as a POW in Macon, Georgia and Columbia South Carolina.
