Description
John Hay Clip Signature
A clean, bold clipped signature of John Hay (1838–1905), noted statesman, diplomat, author, and one of Abraham Lincoln’s private secretaries during the Civil War. Hay later served as U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom and as Secretary of State under Presidents William McKinley and Theodore Roosevelt, becoming a central architect of late-19th-century American foreign policy.
This autograph is signed in a crisp hand on a neatly trimmed 4” x 2½” paper slip, ideal for framing alongside period photographs or pairing with Civil War-era documents. The paper retains strong color with no stains or distracting marks, and Hay’s signature remains clear and well-formed.
A desirable signature from one of Lincoln’s most trusted aides and one of America’s most influential political figures of the late 19th century.
Comes housed in 6 x 8 riker display case with blue velvet and descriptive card.
