Excavated North Carolina Silver-Plated Button 

 

Wonderful, excavated North Carolina state button, retaining traces of its original silver-plated surface. The face features a bold central “NC” surrounded by a radiating sunburst design, an immediately recognizable and highly desirable North Carolina motif. 

The button exhibits an attractive, untouched excavated patina with considerable detail remaining to the device. The shank is missing, as shown, consistent with its recovered condition. Despite its time in the ground, the face remains remarkably strong and displays exceptionally well. 

A scarce excavated North Carolina button with the added appeal of surviving original silver plating—an evocative Confederate relic with excellent eye appeal.
