18 30s-1840s South Carolina Coat Button – Inventory Number: CON 307 / SOLD Antebellum South Carolina coat button of two-piece, flat construction with a palmetto tree on a lined field. The button has the backmark “W. GREGG/ SUPERFINE” with three inner rings. The face has a deep bronze patina with small areas of verdigris. The shank on this example is missing. Listed as SC216A1 in Uniform Buttons of the United States 1776-1865 by Warren K. Tice. An attractive specimen.  Comes housed in a 6 x 8 inch display case with red velvet backing and descriptive card.   Inventory Number: CON 307/ SOLD
