 6th Pennsylvania Cavalry, “Rush’s Lancers”

 

Albumen Photograph Taken Shortly Before the Battle of Gettysburg Rare Alexander Gardner view of the 6th Pennsylvania Cavalry, Company I, “Rush’s Lancers”, at Falmouth, Virginia in June 1863. The photograph depicts Captain James Starr, later wounded at Todd’s Tavern in 1864, and Lieutenant Frank Furness in a camp scene, surrounded by other troopers with their famous lances stacked. Gardner’s portable darkroom is parked at the center of the image. The visible portion of the image measures 8 ¼” by 6” and is housed in a Victorian era wooden frame. A rare image in good condition with excellent content.
