Alexander P. Stewart Autograph – Inventory Number: AUT 102 / SOLD Bold signature in ink on clean tan paper which reads: Chickamauga, Georgia, June 1897 very respectfully yours Alex. P. Stewart parentheses who was a parentheses Lieutenant General C. S. A. A company by a steel engraving of the battle of Pittsburg Landing. ALEXANDER P. STEWART (1821 – 1908) Confederate major general who commanded at Shiloh, Chickamauga, and Atlanta, and replaced Polk after that general’s death. General A.P. Stewart fought exclusively in the western theater, exercising brigade, division, and corps command, and near the end commanded the remnants of the Army of Tennessee following their shattering defeat at the Battle of Nashville.
