Bullet in Wood

 

A fine old souvenir “bullet in wood” from the Battle of the Wilderness. The piece of wood, all that remains of a tree that once stood in the path of the two battling armies, is about 7” long and 2” wide. A three-groove “Minie ball” is visible as is the path of the projectile through the wood. The wood remains very solid and has a dark patina. A very nice display piece
