Ca. 1628 “Historie of the World in Five Books” By Sir Walter Raleigh

Folio, measuring 12 ¾” in height. An early to mid-19th century meticulously executed rebinding, with covers firmly attached and text block secure, though exterior hinges show some wear. Complete text, including engraved portrait frontispiece to title page, preface, contents, and the chronological table at the rear. Lacking all maps and plates. This monumental historical work—first published in 1614 and written by Raleigh while imprisoned in the Tower of London—remains one of the most celebrated early English histories. The present example offers a solid and handsome period binding housing the complete text.
