CDVs of Augustus Louis Roumfort, West Point Graduate and Mayor of Harrisburg During the Gettysburg Campaign – Inventory Number: CDV 452 Carte de visite photographs of Augustus Louis Roumfort, West Point class of 1817 and veteran of the Marine Corps. Roumfort had a lengthy career as a professor, soldier, politician, and mayor of Harrisburg from 1863 to 1866. One CDV shows Roumfort seated in civilian clothing, and the other depicts him in uniform with a wheel cap. The later image is housed in a cardboard frame with the pencil inscription “Robert Armstrong a soldier in the Civil War.” Both CDVs have Harrisburg photographers’ backmarks. The 1879 publication Tenth Annual Reunion of the Association of the Graduates of the United States Military Academy includes a detailed biography of Roumfort.
