Civil War Engineer Corps Castle Insignia

 

Brass Engineer Corps castle insignia of Civil War period manufacture, well struck with clear definition to the flanking towers, crenellations, and central gate. The surface retains a consistent, undisturbed patina with light, even wear commensurate with age.

 

Reverse retains both original brass wire attachment loops, secured with period lead solder—intact and undisturbed. No evidence of modern repair or replacement.

 

Engineer insignia were produced in comparatively limited numbers and are encountered far less frequently than infantry or artillery devices. A solid, original example with complete attachment.
