Fine Civil War period New Jersey state button featuring the detailed state seal with Liberty and Ceres flanking the central shield beneath the horse head crest. The reverse retains a strong original shank and is backmarked “EXTRA QUALITY,” a desirable period maker’s mark found on quality military buttons of the era.

This attractive two-piece brass example exhibits pleasing detail throughout with a rich untouched patina and traces of original gilt remaining to the recessed areas.
