Description

Civil War Painted Drum

Wonderful patriotic snare drum.  Measuring 14 ¾ x 12 ½” this example features a maple body which is painted red and embellished with a federal shield and cannon with wheat emerging from muzzle.  Wheat was often used to symbolize both the desolation caused by the war and the country’s hope for the future.  The opposing side features the sound hole encircled by a star with flourishes. The top head is present with a tear, the bottom head and snares are lacking.  The original rope and a single tensioner are present. One of the prettiest patriotic examples we have had the pleasure of offering.
