Civil War Union Bullseye Canteen

This is a fine authentic Civil War soldier’s canteen. This is the classic style known to collectors as the “Bullseye” pattern with the reinforcement rings on the sides. It still has an attractive look and all three of the original strap loops are still present on the sides as is the original wool.  The original spout is present at the top of the canteen. On the side just below the lip of the spout you can still see the traces of the Civil War maker’s mark of “J.Hall Rohrman of Philadelphia”.  Joseph Hall Rohrman’s only military connection was with his Civil War production of canteens.  Which he was only contracted to make between the years 1863 and 1864, of which this would be one of those contracts.
