Description

Colt Model 1860 Army Percussion Revolver

A Colt Model 1860 Army six-shot percussion revolver in .44 caliber, serial number 11120. This early Civil War example is configured for attachment of a detachable shoulder stock and features a notched recoil shield, notched backstrap and four-screw frame.

The cylinder, barrel, frame and brass trigger guard bear matching serial number 11120. Although the cylinder scene is no longer visible, its patent marking and serial number remain legible. The left side of the frame is stamped “COLTS PATENT,” and the top of the barrel bears the one-line New York address.

The steel surfaces exhibit a smooth, deep brown patina. The brass trigger guard has developed an attractive mustard-colored patina with several darker areas near the trigger opening. The action remains functional, the cylinder advances and the loading lever operates smoothly. The wooden grips are intact and display scattered dents, dings and honest wear consistent with age and use.

A complete, appealing example of an early Colt Model 1860 Army revolver with matching numbered components and a pleasing untouched appearance.
