 Confederate Brown Leather Pocket Revolver Holster 

Very nice Civil War Confederate brown leather revolver holster, sized for a Colt Model 1849 Pocket revolver with a 4-inch barrel or a comparable small-frame percussion revolver. The holster is constructed of substantial russet-brown leather with a broad rounded flap and hand-sewn body, exhibiting the straightforward construction associated with Confederate wartime leatherwork.

Of particular interest is the use of a copper rivet in its construction, a feature long associated with surviving examples of Confederate leather equipment. The flap retains its original closure slit; however, the corresponding closure stud on the body of the holster is missing.

The leather remains remarkably strong and attractive, retaining a rich dark-brown surface with honest handling and wear. Stitching is substantially intact, the body retains its original form, and there are none of the serious condition problems frequently encountered with Confederate leather.
