Confederate Photographer Envelope

 

Rare Confederate Cover A nice confederate stamped cover with unusual imprint “To any Daguerreian or Ambrotype Artist”. Addressed to Gainesville, GA. Light blue 10c Thomas Jefferson Confederate issue stamp. Stamp professionally lifted and replaced at a lower position to fully reveal imprint. The stamp is the Hoyer & Ludwig (Richmond) design but a Paterson (Augusta) print (SA Scott 2b) of 1862. Augusta, GA postmarked. A very rare and unusual cover. Comes housed in a 12 x 8 inch display case with red velvet backing and descriptive card.
