Enfield Rifle Cartridge and Bullet – Inventory Number: BUL 358 / SOLD Original and very good intact example of an Enfield .577 caliber paper cartridge. Produced in England for the Enfield Rifle Musket, this example measures 3” long. The lubricated, grooveless conical lead bullet with its boxwood or clay plug in its hollow base is fitted nose-first into the base of the cartridge. An outer wrapping of white paper, now changed to beige, joins the powder charge to the bullet. Paper is still strong and tight. Attached to the cartridge with pink string is a non-excavated Enfield bullet and an old tag with ink reading “old Enfield ball and cartridge .55 cal.” Comes housed in a riker case with dark blue background. A scarce collectible that would enhance any Confederate infantryman’s display or Civil War ammunition collection.  Example: Corky Huey Collection.     Inventory Number: BUL 358 / SOLD
