Engraved Manhattan .31 Caliber Pocket Revolver with Original Flap Holster

 

Five-shot Manhattan .31 caliber pocket revolver featuring an engraved frame and a clearly visible stagecoach scene on the cylinder. The steel surfaces display an aged dark-gray patina with scattered darker spotting, complementing the scrollwork decorating the frame. The cylinder retains the ten stop notches characteristic of this Manhattan pocket revolver design.

 

The barrel bears the marking “MANHATTAN FIREARMS MANUF’G. CO. NEW YORK,” with “PATENTED DEC. 27, 1859” stamped beneath the frame. The wood grips remain intact with their original screw and washers, showing minor handling marks and small dings along the lower right grip. According to the accompanying collection notes, the action functions and the intact loading lever operates smoothly.

 

Accompanying the revolver is its original leather flap holster, featuring a narrow triangular flap and a single rear belt loop. The leather retains much of its black finish, with age-related surface cracking and areas of flaking that expose the brown leather beneath. The stitching securing the bottom of the belt loop has broken, leaving that end detached.

 

A handsome revolver and holster pairing, distinguished by its decorative engraving, preserved cylinder scene, and appealing aged surfaces.
