Excellent Federal Cavalry Carbine Sling / SOLD

A fine and well-marked example of a Federal Cavalry Carbine Sling, constructed of heavy bridle leather, measuring the uncut 56 inches long by 2 1/2 inches wide. The nicest example we have ever offered.

This sling exhibits excellent preservation with strong, supple leather and fully legible markings-hallmarks of an authentic and unaltered piece of Federal cavalry equipment. The metal components snap is marked: “O.B. North / New Haven CT.”.

Of particular note, this example was formerly part of the renowned James Stamatelos Collection of Civil War artifacts, adding significant provenance and collector appeal. Stamatelos was a highly respected authority and collector of U.S. military accoutrements, and examples from his collection are widely sought after.

An outstanding example of regulation Union cavalry gear-well-marked, complete, and steeped in both authenticity and provenance.
