Exceptional Civil War–Era Percussion Cap Tin with Contents

 

Outstanding Civil War–period percussion cap tin, retaining its original paper label reading “ELEY’S DOUBLE WATERPROOF CAPS – LONDON”, with contents still present. The tin exhibits a rich, untouched “Japan” lacquered finish, with deep brown to black toning and glossy surface, showing only light age-related wear.

 

Cylindrical tin construction with tight-fitting lid, the label remaining legible and well-centered despite minor losses and abrasion consistent with field use. The preservation of both the finish and original caps places this example well above average.
