Fife with Silver Ferrules, Maker Marked Geo Cloos Crosby

 

An original mid-19th century fife of turned rosewood, fitted with a silver ferrule at the mouthpiece end, marker marked Geo Cloos / Crosby. Measuring approximately 17” this simple but durable instrument retains a pleasing aged patina, while the silver ferrule shows darkened surface from period use and oxidation.
