Frankford Arsenal Set of 4 Second Fuses Dated 1863

 

Dated 1863 with Pink Label. This pack of 4-second artillery fuses originates from the Frankford Arsenal and was produced in 1863. The pack is constructed of a drilled wood block covered with a pink colored paper label. The pack retains its period paper wrapping, printed decorative border, and printed firing instructions: “To take a fuze from the package, tear the paper at top by raising the piece of tape, and press against the small end of the fuze with the finger.” Fuses are exposed and removable.
