Description

General service or militia button, eagle facing right, 17 stars, one part low convex, Best Plated London rm, (19.8mm) Button depicts a patriotic eagle, and could be purchased by any militia units in the1830’s and 1840’s.   This pattern features eagle facing right surrounded by 17 stars.   Backmark:   “BEST (in script)  (dot)   PLATED (in script) (dot).” rm, convex back.   One part low convex button, coat size.   Reference: Albert GI67 Inventory Number: BUT 038
